Thanks! I think the angles are very important. It has to look like it works. At least for me. I'm into realism. Not everybody's bag, I know, but I like to think its important.
Yes! The manga influence shows! I am definitely inspired by manga even though I don't read much of it or try to emulate it. The next page is a blatant use of manga technique with the action lines. But otherwise its more of a hidden influence. As for realism, I guess I meant more in believability, rather than art style. Even though the story is fantasy, I want it to feel like it could happen this way.
You're doing a great job on this action scene. I'm digging a lot! the first panel has a wonderful sense of motion, mainly because the horizontal lines are crossing the vertical one in the center of the image. Wonderful! The depth of the third panel is awesome too, with the foreground, middle and background rule.
Thanks! I'm not sure what you're talking about with rules and such. I just go on instinct. Your critique is invaluable to helping me learn! I will take note!
Wow, your instincts are good! You've an inborn talent for drawing.
It's just a composition analysis :) People always talk about Loomis, but in the University we learn with Wölfflin and Arnheim.
